The world actually is centered around “the family.” It doesn’t matter where in the world you live, your family is what matters.
My grandfather was not politically correct, but you knew how he felt. Those were his prejudices and preconceived notions. You knew where he stood on issues and life. They were our family values. He and grandma were the head of the family, and the large gatherings and Christmas dinner was filled with cousins and good times. We loved to visit their nice home and participate in their lives. Those are the memories of our childhood, and we created traditions. Today, we build our own traditions.
Family does matter, and our right in life to pursue happiness is an American value we hold dear. Family, lifestyle and travel are always on peoples “goal list.”
The holiday season is always special, but we feel more when so many people are hurting. The global economy has left the whole world feeling poorer in money, but richer in the knowledge of what is important to them. It is an opportunity for us all to use our knowledge, technology, resources and minds to make this world a better place. A safer place. A place where families can flourish and grow, and mothers and fathers can be proud of their name, their DNA, their family traditions and their values.
Mothers everywhere get “World Peace.” No one likes a bully. No one wants to be told what to do. No one wants to be told what to think. “Die gedanken sind frei.” was a familiar German tune when they were told what to think. History is always written by the winners, and there is a lot to the history you don’t even know yet. That is why they say it repeats itself.
It’s really not that difficult. To live in the black, you spend less than you bring in. You find ways to be profitable. To create the goose that lays the golden eggs. You be self employed, and an artist. You be creative and work with others to make things happen. Lots of small economies are much better and safer than one big federal economy. Work locally, encourage travel and education. Knowledge is in, school is out! It’s good to learn and better yourself. Find a passion or at least a hobby.
Growing up in a large family you learned the belief systems of your family. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Raising kids help you learn how you feel and what you believe.
Your life is God’s gift to you. What you make of it is your gift to God. This is a good time to consider that. 2010, and on we go!
